The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has confirmed that 5 players of Vietnam U23 players have tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the first match of the AFF U23 Championship 2022. with Singapore tomorrow.
After the training session on the evening of February 17, some members of Vietnam U23 showed signs of fever. To be proactive in disease prevention, the medical team of Vietnam U23 immediately conducted rapid tests for all team members.
Immediately after the results were available, the team’s doctors immediately separated the rooms of the suspected infected players into a separate room and reported to the organizers to take the next steps as prescribed.
Around 3pm, the medical department of the organizers will come in to quickly test again for 5 positive cases of U23 Vietnam.
However, If the players have COVID-19 and do not return to play in the Southeast Asian tournament, the teams have the right to replenish their forces. The team with how many infected players will be replaced with the same number, but not more than 10 people.
Substitute registration time is 12 hours before the ball rolls. The replacement player is on the preliminary list of 35 people or another player who is exempt from the required criteria. This is a decision passed at noon on 17 February to avoid the tournament being severely affected by the Covid-19 epidemic.
U23 Vietnam still hasn’t changed its training plan, at least for now. Coach Dinh The Nam’s teachers and students will have the last practice session before the match against Singapore at 6.00 pm on the RCAF Old Stadium, Phnom Penh.
