Selangor FC earned a valuable point in their AFC Champions League Two (ACL 2) 2024/25 Group H opener, drawing 1-1 with Thailand’s Muangthong United at the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok.
Muangthong United dominated the early stages of the match, launching multiple attacks, but despite their chances, they couldn’t find a way past Selangor’s defense. The first half ended in a goalless stalemate, with both teams unable to break the deadlock.
The second half saw a change in momentum, as Selangor FC struck early. In the 47th minute, Venezuelan playmaker Yohandry Orozco delivered a clever pass to Ronnie Fernández, who fired a shot from a tight angle past Muangthong’s goalkeeper at the near post, giving Selangor a 1-0 lead.
However, Muangthong responded quickly. In the 54th minute, after a sustained attacking move, Tristan Do’s shot was initially saved by Selangor’s goalkeeper, but Purachet Thodsanit pounced on the rebound, tapping in from close range to equalize for the home side.
Both teams pressed for a winning goal in the remaining minutes, but neither could convert their chances. The match ended 1-1, with both sides sharing the points.
