Sabah FC were denied a home victory after settling for a 1-1 draw against Melaka FC in the Liga Super Malaysia 2025/26 at Likas Stadium, Kota Kinabalu.
The hosts were stunned just three minutes into the game when Juan Douglas Da Silva found the net for Melaka, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside. The early scare forced Sabah to reorganize quickly and push forward in search of the opener.
However, heavy rain disrupted the rhythm of play, leaving the pitch slippery and making ball control difficult. Despite several attempts from distance by Jafri Chew, Gary Steven Robbat, and Stuart Wilkin in the 32nd, 34th, and 38th minutes, Sabah were unable to break the deadlock before halftime.
Melaka also had their chances, with Muhammad Sharel Fikri Md Fauzi coming close in stoppage time of the first half.
Sabah finally found the breakthrough in the 60th minute when Bosnian striker Ajdin Mujagic calmly slotted home Jafri Chew’s delivery to give the home crowd something to cheer about.
But the joy was short-lived. Determined to avoid defeat, Melaka intensified their attacks and were rewarded in the 84th minute when Irfan Zakaria bundled in the equalizer from a corner.
The 1-1 scoreline remained until the final whistle, leaving Sabah frustrated as they slipped to seventh place in the Liga Super Malaysia standings.
