Malaysian Football League (MFL) has officially clarified that the decision by the independent body, First Instance Body (FIB), to extend the deadline for National License applications was made in accordance with the provisions set out in the MFL Club Licensing Regulations Edition 2024/25.
In a statement released today, MFL responded to recent concerns raised by several Super League clubs on social media regarding the original deadline for submitting documents for the 2024–2025 club licensing cycle.
“The FIB committee acknowledges and appreciates the commitment shown by clubs that successfully uploaded their documents into the AFC CLAS licensing system on or before the original deadline of 30 April 2025,” the statement read.
However, MFL confirmed that the FIB received written requests from several clubs seeking an extension. After thorough consideration of each case, the FIB decided to grant an extended deadline, allowing submissions until 10 May 2025 at the latest.
“This decision was made in accordance with the powers vested in the FIB under Article 7 and 8(a) of the MFL Club Licensing Regulations 2024, which state that ‘The decision-making bodies must operate according to the principles of natural justice and must as a minimum regulate the following standards: deadlines (e.g., submission deadline, etc.).’”
The FIB emphasized that it took into account the specific circumstances and justification provided by the clubs involved before arriving at its decision.
With the new submission deadline in place, MFL encourages all affected clubs to upload the required documents by or before 10 May 2025, ensuring compliance and readiness for the upcoming season.
This clarification aims to reinforce transparency and fairness in the licensing process while acknowledging the challenges clubs may face in meeting administrative requirements.
