Indonesia U17 national team earn valuable 3 points after beating Korea Republic U17 national team scoring 1-0 in the AFC U17 Asian Cup 2025 Group Stage, Group C at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium, Jeddah.
Two-time champions Korea Republic controlled possession and dictated the tempo from the start. Their early attacking intent saw Oh Ha-ram fire an ambitious attempt wide in the opening minute, while Kim Min-chan’s header narrowly missed three minutes later.
Kim Ye-geon came closest to breaking the deadlock in the 12th minute when his powerful strike from outside the box rattled the crossbar. Indonesian goalkeeper Dafa Al Gasemi was then called into action multiple times, making crucial saves to deny Park Byeong-chan and Oh.
Despite Korea Republic’s attacking momentum, Indonesia looked dangerous on the counter. However, the Korean defense stood firm, blocking their opponents’ advances and limiting their chances inside the final third.
The second half saw both sides increase their intensity, with Korea Republic continuing to push for a breakthrough. Park Byeong-chan came close in the 49th minute but headed over the bar, while Jin Geon-young’s 67th-minute strike lacked the power to trouble Al Gasemi.
Jang Woo-Sik had perhaps the best opportunity for Korea Republic in the 70th minute, but his close-range volley from a tight angle found only the side netting.
Just when it seemed the match was destined for a draw, Indonesia was awarded a penalty after Kim Ji-Seong’s handball inside the box deep into stoppage time. Florasta stepped up for the spot-kick, only for Park Do-hun to save his initial effort. However, the midfielder showed his instincts, reacting quickest to bury the rebound and send Indonesian supporters into raptures.
With this crucial win, Indonesia will look to build momentum when they face Yemen on Monday. Meanwhile, Korea Republic, now under pressure, must secure a victory against Afghanistan to keep their qualification hopes alive.
