Johor Darul Ta’zim has bolstered its defensive lineup by signing experienced Spanish center-back Alvaro Gonzalez. The 35-year-old joins from Al-Qadsia of the Saudi Pro League, bringing a wealth of European and international experience to the Southern Tigers for the ongoing 2024/25 season.
Alvaro began his professional career in Spain with Racing Santander and went on to play for Real Zaragoza and Espanyol. His most notable spell came with Villarreal CF, where he earned widespread recognition as a reliable defender.
In 2019, he was loaned to Olympique Marseille in France’s Ligue 1, where he later signed a permanent deal, becoming a key figure for the French side.
Gonzalez also ventured into the Middle East, playing for Al-Nassr alongside football legend Cristiano Ronaldo before joining Al-Qadsia.
