Terengganu FC keep opportunity in the first match after invade to beating Kuala Lumpur City with a score of 2-1 in the Piala Malaysia 2023 Semi-Final first leg at KLFA Stadium, Cheras.
Terengganu who pushed more from the beginning of the game had to wait until the injury time of the first half to be in front through Ivan Mamut’s goal.
KL City who went down without their captain, Paulo Josue tried to get up by making several moves but failed to break the deadlock.
Terengganu had the best chance to double their advantage in the 82nd minute, but KL City goalkeeper Kevin Ray Mendoza saved Syahmi Zamri’s poor kick in front of the goal.
Syahmi, however, made up for the disappointment when his pass in the 89th minute was finished with Nik Sharif Haseefy Mohd Lazim’s curling shot for the Turtle squad to lead 2-0.
However, the City Boys squad managed to close the gap after Tchetche Kipre finished off a penalty kick in injury time, thus ensuring that Terengganu did not bring home a more comfortable supply.
In the second match of the semi-final, Terengganu FC will be back to play at home at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium on 3 November 2023.
