Malaysia national team has called Zhafri Yahya, midfielder of Kuala Lumpur City, to join in squad for FIFA World Cup 2026 Asian Qualifiers Round 2 Group D matchday 5-6 in June.
Zhafri has been named on the waiting list and has called to replace Syafiq Ahmad, the forward of Kedah Darul Aman, after he was unable to join this centralized training camp after being diagnosed with an injury.
This is the second time Zhafri Yahya has been called to the Malaysia national team after being called the first time in 2022 to replace Darren Lok in the squad to participate FAS Tri-Nation Series tournament in Singapore.
Malaysia will be in action for the fifth match of Group D against the Kyrgyz Republic on Thursday, 6 June 2024, at the Dolen Omurzakov Stadium, Bishkek before flying home for the sixth match against Chinese Taipei at the National Stadium, Bukit Jalil, on Tuesday, 11 June 2024.
