Tomislav Steinbruckner, head coach of Terengganu FC, admitted that he was ready with a plan and believed supporters would add more tonic for the players when in action in the match against Stallion Laguna in the AFC Cup 2023/24 Group Stage, Group G tomorrow.
However, Terengganu FC will not use the team captain, Habib Haroon, and centre defender Safwan Mazlan was still unable to train with their teammates due to injury problems.
“Even though the team (Stallion Laguna FC) has lost twice in a row and on paper it is expected to be easy for us to defeat them, we have to be careful with the threat of the squad’s players who are expected to come up with a different strategy,” Tomi said.
“In fact, I saw the previous action of the Philippine club, and they played well in the first 30 minutes. This situation certainly gives the impression that it is a difficult task for our players.”
“After all, Habib who suffered an injury when facing Kuala Lumpur City FC (KL City FC) in the first semi-final action of the Malaysia Cup last Saturday, has not fully recovered, nor has Safwan, during the last training session I will see who is fit and vice versa.
“However, playing at home with strong support from the fans, will certainly give our team an advantage to score a second victory in the Asian competition,” said Steinbruckner.
When asked about the match schedule that will take place at 4pm, Tommy early on did not want it to be an excuse for his players even though he was aware that the time was not very suitable for playing.
“The match at that time was not very suitable to be played, but I expect the best and energetic actions displayed by the players despite the possibility of hot weather because our target is three points to have a chance to lead the group,” he said.
