Terengganu FC has issued an official statement addressing recent viral claims on social media regarding an alleged FIFA-imposed transfer ban on the club, clarifying that the matter had already been fully resolved earlier this month.
The club explained that the issue stemmed from a past dispute involving a former foreign staff member and a minor allowance payment amounting to a five-figure sum. The case was amicably settled in April 2025, with FIFA confirming the full resolution on April 21 and granting the claimant a five-day period to verify receipt of the payment — a deadline which has since passed without issue.
“This matter should not have been sensationalised, as it has been completely resolved,” the club said in its statement.
“There is no outstanding issue with FIFA regarding this case, and it should no longer be in discussion.”
TFC also emphasized that the Malaysian League’s upcoming player registration window has yet to open — expected to begin in July 2025, ahead of the new season kickoff in early August — and that the club has already taken proactive steps to ensure all regulatory requirements are met well in advance.
“The club has acted swiftly and responsibly, despite ample time before the registration window begins,” the statement continued.
TFC further expressed concern that certain individuals on social media are intentionally circulating outdated or misleading information in an apparent attempt to tarnish the club’s reputation and mislead the public.
“Such irresponsible behaviour creates a negative perception of the club, which is both unfair and untrue.”
In closing, the club called on all parties, including fans and media, to understand the official procedures involved in FIFA-related cases and to rely on verified information moving forward.
“We hope this explanation brings clarity and that everyone respects the proper protocols when dealing with matters involving FIFA and Malaysian football.”
