Terengganu FC (TFC) and Indonesian giants Persija Jakarta have taken a significant step towards strengthening regional football ties after holding high-level discussions in Jakarta on Tuesday.
The Terengganu Football Club Sdn. Bhd. (TFCSB) delegation, led by Chief Executive Officer Sheikh Farouk Sheikh Mohamed Al Bajrai and Chief Operating Officer Mohd Syahrizan Mohd Zain, met with Persija Jakarta’s management team headed by Club President M. Prapanca and Sporting Director Bambang Pamungkas.
The talks covered several strategic areas, including:
- Youth talent development
- Coaching expertise exchange programmes
- Hosting international friendly matches
- Commercial opportunities to benefit both clubs
Sheikh Farouk emphasized that the collaboration represents more than just a footballing partnership, highlighting its commercial and cultural impact.
“This meeting is a new chapter for local football. It not only builds a footballing bridge between Malaysia and Indonesia with great potential for regional impact but also adds commercial value to both clubs,” he said.
Persija President M. Prapanca expressed optimism that the collaboration can move forward swiftly.
“We deeply appreciate this meeting. It will open wider opportunities for knowledge exchange, youth development, and strengthen the ASEAN football community in the future,” he said.
TFCSB noted that the discussions would serve as a strong foundation for expanding the club’s international network while further enhancing bilateral ties between Malaysia and Indonesia through football.
The management of Terengganu FC also expressed gratitude for Persija’s warm reception and shared confidence that the partnership will generate added value not only in football’s technical aspects but also in developing a more sustainable football ecosystem in the region.
