The Ultras Thailand supporters’ group has announced that they will boycott entering Rajamangala National Stadium during the men’s football competition at the 2025 SEA Games, citing what they describe as unfair and rights-violating fan management policies by the event organisers.
In a strongly worded statement, the group affirmed that while they refuse to enter the stadium, they will still be present outside to cheer for the Thailand national team — ensuring their support is heard, even if not from the stands.
Ultras Thailand outlined three key reasons behind their decision:
1. Rejecting Policies That Violate Supporters’ Rights
The group condemned the mandatory personal-data registration required before entering the stadium.
They argue that such a measure undermines the basic freedoms of football fans, especially in an era where personal data is easily leaked or exploited.
Ultras Thailand further stressed the unfairness of the system, noting that VIPs and privileged groups are not subjected to the same requirements.
They labelled the policy “injustice disguised as security,” adding that Cambodia’s withdrawal from hosting football at the SEA Games makes the justification for data collection even weaker.
According to them, Thai football supporters have the right to refuse providing personal information to organisers.
2. Rejecting a Fan-Zoning System That Contradicts Global Football Standards
The group criticised the decision to allocate the entire behind-the-goal section to away supporters.
They argued this gives opponents an unfair advantage, while also weakening the voice and pressure traditionally created by Ultras Thailand, who usually occupy the S Stand behind the goal.
They described the zoning plan as evidence of a fundamental misunderstanding of international football fan culture.
3. Standing With the National Team, Not the Decision-Makers
Ultras Thailand reaffirmed their unwavering support for the Thai national team.
However, they refuse to accept what they see as mismanagement by the Sports Authority
The boycott marks one of the most significant fan-movement statements in recent Thai football history. With the SEA Games approaching and Rajamangala set to be the main venue, the absence of Ultras Thailand inside the stadium will be deeply felt.
