Hakim Danish Fired Up for 'Home Race' in Sepang
Malaysian rising star rider is determined to put a frustrating Phillip Island debut behind him and give his all in front of tens of thousands of home fans.
Malaysian rising star Hakim Danish (AEON Credit - MT Helmets - MSi) has turned his full attention to his home Grand Prix at the Petronas Sepang International Circuit (SIC), Sepang from 30 October to 1 November 2026. He is determined to put on his best show in front of the Malaysian faithful.
According to ZK Racing, the 19-year-old is fully focused on his preparations for Sepang after his first Australian GP at Phillip Island didn't go to plan. He struggled to find his best rhythm in challenging conditions and was set to start from 25th on the grid, but he never got the chance to fight his way forward. Persistent rain and poor visibility, which kept the medical helicopter grounded, forced the cancellation of all of Sunday's races
Ready to put that disappointment behind him, the Terengganu-born rider sees his home race as a chance to collect valuable championship points and to show what he can do in front of the tens of thousands of fans expected to flock to Sepang. He has already shown his potential there. On his Moto3 debut as a wildcard at last year's Malaysian GP, Hakim went straight through to Q2, started 12th and set the fastest lap of the race
A technical problem with five laps remaining then ended his hopes of a top-10 finish.
With competition in Moto3 as fierce as ever, Hakim is paying special attention to free practice and qualifying to secure a better starting position this time. ZK Racing believes Sepang will be an important stage for him to show how much he has developed and matured in his first full season in the Moto3 World Championship.
"This week is my home race, and I'm very happy and excited to race at the Malaysian GP. Of course I'm even more motivated, and I can't wait to get going this weekend," said Hakim. "I definitely want to give my best for the team, Malaysia, my family and everyone. I hope I can do my best throughout the weekend."
ZK Racing boss Zulfahmi Khairuddin believes the home crowd will give the youngster an extra boost. "Racing at home certainly gives Hakim Danish extra motivation. He knows the support from Malaysian fans will be huge, and we hope he can use it to fire himself up and deliver his best throughout the weekend," said Zulfahmi. "Danish has already proven his ability this season, including his win at the Czech Republic GP. We want him to bring that confidence to Sepang, work hard in every session and take every opportunity to get the best possible result."
"Most importantly, we want Danish to enjoy racing in front of his home fans, stay focused and give everything from the first practice session. We hope this weekend will be a proud experience for him and for all of the nation's motorsport fans," he added.
