Hosts twice come from behind to win 3-2 at Hang Jebat and climb to sixth in the table

Melaka FC pulled off a surprise 3-2 win over Kuala Lumpur City in the Malaysia Super League at Hang Jebat Stadium on Saturday. Substitute R Ruventhiran scored the winner in the 86th minute.

The visitors took the lead in the 12th minute. Fareed Sadat beat Melaka goalkeeper Muhammad Firdaus Irman Mohd Fadhil to open the scoring.

Melaka drew level before half-time. Kpah Sean Sherman set up Brazilian import Christian de Souza Andre, who calmly finished to make it 1-1.

The hosts began the second half with more purpose and pressed KL City back. The pressure paid off in the 53rd minute, when Sherman headed in De Souza’s pass to make it 2-1.

KL City were level again in the 76th minute. Paulo Josue’s corner was turned into his own net by Melaka’s Syahir Abd Rashid, making it 2-2.

Melaka completed the comeback in the 86th minute. Ruventhiran scored to spark celebrations among the home fans.

The win lifts Melaka into sixth place in the league.

It is a sharp contrast with the sides’ last meeting at Hang Jebat on 30 November 2025. KL City won 3-0 against a Melaka side that was bottom of the table and still without a win. Sherman, who scored for KL City in that match, was on the opposite side this time.
