Dato' Sri Mohd Shuhaily Decline Deputy Chairman Integrity FAM
AKPS Director-General Cites Time Constraints and Border Agency Duties; FAM Thanks Him for Prior Commitment, Vows Integrity Committee Will Continue Functioning Smoothly
The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has confirmed that Dato' Sri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain is unable to accept his appointment as Deputy Chairman of the FAM Integrity Committee, citing time constraints arising from his responsibilities as Director-General of the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS).
In the official statement, FAM confirmed it respects Mohd Shuhaily's decision while recording its appreciation for his earlier willingness and commitment to assisting the association in strengthening aspects of integrity and governance. The association emphasized that his prior engagement with the appointment process was valued, even as practical demands on his time ultimately made the role unworkable.
FAM stated it will ensure the smooth functioning of the Integrity Committee continues to receive attention, reaffirming its commitment to supporting ongoing efforts to strengthen integrity and governance standards within Malaysian football's governing body. The statement signals that the committee's broader mandate remains unaffected despite the vacancy at the deputy chairman level.
FAM had previously announced Mohd Shuhaily's appointment as Deputy Chairman of the Integrity Committee, a body chaired by former Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Dato' Seri Panglima Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay. The committee forms part of FAM's broader governance framework aimed at strengthening transparency and accountability within the organization.
