The situation, as reported by Astro AWANI, indicates that four individuals, including a CEO and two consultant representatives of a football association in the northern part of the country, have been remanded for three days until January 7. The remand order was issued by Magistrate Siti Norhidayah Mohd Noor at the Alor Setar Magistrate’s Court, following an application by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on Friday.
The four suspects, all males aged between 40 and 60, are under suspicion of soliciting and receiving bribes totaling more than RM6 million. They were reportedly arrested during the recording of evidence at the Kedah MACC Office on Thursday, and the investigation suggests that the bribe money was deposited into the account of a football association.
According to sources, the alleged bribery is linked to assisting a company owner in obtaining a tender for a race track construction project and a project related to managing, operating, and maintaining five water reservoir plants in a state.
MACC Senior Director of Investigation, Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hashim, has confirmed the arrest of the four suspects and stated that the case is being investigated in accordance with Section 16a(B) of the MACC Act 2009.
Legal proceedings will likely provide further details as the investigation unfolds, and it’s important to follow credible news sources for updates on this case.
