Malaysia’s Men’s single, Lee Zii Jia, ended runner-up in the PERODUA Malaysia Masters 2024 at Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur.
In the action at the Axiata Arena, Zii Jia seemed ‘amazed’ by Axelsen’s greatness when he lost easily 6-21 in the first set.
However, Zii Jia sparked a comeback in the second set by battling with more powerful action to win 22-20 and drag the game to a decider.
The deciding set action however once again saw Axelsen dominate despite Zii Jia trying to put up a fight early in the game with the Danish champion emerging victorious with a 21-13 win.
The decision extends Malaysia’s drought to win the men’s individual event at the Malaysia Masters since it was last won by the country’s former champion, Datuk Lee Chong Wei, in 2016.
He also witnessed Zii Jia fail in his mission to win his second title in a row after winning the Thailand Open last Sunday.
