Terengganu FC is near taking a spot in the quarter-final after beating Sri Pahang FC with a score of 5-1 in the TM Piala Malaysia 2022 Round of 16 1st leg at Darul Makmur Stadium, Kuantan.
The opponent’s brilliant action began as early as the first minute when the hosts were shocked by the preliminary goal from the touch of the striker, Kpah Sherman.
The network stemmed from the mistakes of Sri Pahang defender Sherzod Fayziev who failed to get the ball right to the goalkeeper, Mamadou Samassa when Sherman snatched it.
Two minutes later, Nik Shariff Haseefy Mohd Lazim scored the second goal for TFC after receiving a pass from Faisal Halim.
Down 2-0, Sri Pahang doubled their attack and came close to closing the goal gap following Kevin Ingreso’s attempt but the midfielder’s shot went missing in the 13th minute.
In the 42nd minute, the host’s import striker, Steven Rodriguez closed the gap before the end of the first half.
Continuing the second half, the Turtle squad didn’t have to wait long to add a third goal if Faisal made sure his team finished leading 3-1 in the 49th minute.
Three minutes later, Sherman scored the fourth goal for TFC which was also both personal and put pressure on Sri Pahang.
Sri Pahang, who rarely made a mistake, tried to add to the net but was denied by the opponent’s defense.
In the 90th minute, Sherman scored a fifth goal and a hat-trick to help TFC record a comfortable provision.
In that match, the hosts were forced to agree to a 5-1 loss to TFC, which will certainly make it difficult if they meet once again in Kuala Terengganu on 1 November.
