Johor Darul Ta’Zim near takes a spot in the quarter-final after invading to beating PJ City with a score of 4-0 in the TM Piala Malaysia 2022 Round of 16 1st leg at MBPJ Stadium, Petaling Jaya.
These comfortable supplies will surely put the Southern Tigers squad in the best possible condition ahead of the second action at home, next Monday at the same time forcing PJ City FC to work even harder to turn chances into the quarterfinals.
Not even having time JDT managed to get the opening goal as early as the fourth minute after Arif Aiman Hanapi’s corner kick was headed by Shahrul Saad to beat Kalamullah Al-Hafiz.
Communication problems almost gave PJ City FC an equalizer in the 9th minute when Farizal Marlias was met by Mahali Jasuli’s ball smack in the direction of his own goal, luckily the ball went out for a corner.
Farizal however brilliantly denied Darren Lok’s one-on-one situation in the 16th minute before PJ City FC was able to heave a sigh of relief if Syafiq Ahmad’s attempt in the 22nd minute only ‘kissed’ the post.
Safawi Rasid widened the gap when JDT’s second goal exploded following a bounce to beat Kalamullah for the second time in the 38th minute.
The second half continued, Akhyar Rashid added a third in the 70th minute before Fernando Forestieri completed a JDT-style night with a fourth in the 78th minute.
