Selangor FC delivered a ruthless performance to storm into the Piala FA Malaysia 2025/26 quarter-finals, thrashing Malaysian University 9-0 in the second-leg tie at the MBPJ Stadium on Saturday night.
The emphatic result, combined with their 3-1 first-leg victory two weeks ago, saw the Red Giants advance with a 12-1 aggregate scoreline.
Head coach Katsuhito Kinoshi rotated his squad, handing goalkeeper Sikh Izhan a start, while the visitors pinned their hopes on striker Zarif Nazhan.
It didn’t take long for Selangor to break the deadlock. In the 11th minute, Thai left-back Kevin Deeromram rose highest to nod home Faisal Halim’s corner, giving the hosts a 1-0 lead.
Ten minutes later, Quentin Cheng doubled the advantage after finishing off a clever pass from Chrigor Moraes. Selangor tightened their grip just before halftime as Moraes turned scorer, pouncing on Deeromram’s cross to make it 3-0.
The floodgates opened in the second half. Deeromram struck again in the 49th minute, securing his brace and extending the aggregate to 7-1.
Selangor’s dominance grew further when Alvin Fortes (55’) and Zach Clough (69’) added their names to the scoresheet, pushing the tally to 6-0.
Brazilian forward Chrigor Moraes then stole the spotlight, completing his hat-trick with goals in the 75th and 80th minutes. Substitute Zikri Khalili capped off the rout late on, netting Selangor’s ninth of the evening to send the home crowd into celebration.
The match ended 9-0, sealing Selangor’s progression with an astonishing 12-1 aggregate win.
In the quarter-finals, Selangor will face Negeri Sembilan, who advanced after eliminating PDRM 5-1 on aggregate in their Round of 16 clash.
