Perlis United failed to obtain grant national license to participate in Liga Super Malaysia 2024/25 following decision of Independent body First Instance Body (FIB) of Malaysian Football League(MFL).
This decision was made after the Independent body First Instance Body (FIB) made the decision not to grant a National License due to the failure to meet additional conditions after the announcement regarding the Extraordinary License decision of the Liga M3 Amateur Football League (AFL) on 7 March 2024.
FIB has set conditions to ensure that all financial due diligence is completed before issuing any license to PUFC according to additional criteria as follows;
a. Evidence of funds received in the PUFC account amounting to RM 5,000,000.00 as in the check presented before March 9, 2024.
b. A declaration signed by officials and players that there are no outstanding debts on December 31, 2023 before March 13, 2024.
c. Proof of the stamped sponsorship agreement between PUFC and each of the four (4) potential sponsors to be submitted by March 15, 2024.
d. The first sponsorship fund payment received by PUFC from the above sponsors based on the sponsorship payment conditions before March 22, 2024.
Although the submission deadline of March 22, 2024 has not yet ended, FIB confirmed that PUFC has failed 3 of the 4 initial conditions by not submitting any documents as requested and has violated all deadlines given. Therefore, the FIB has decided not to grant the 2024-2025 Super League license to PUFC.
The FIB maintains its strict conditions in order to maintain the financial stability of the league and clubs and this financial due diligence process is carefully implemented to ensure that the Malaysian League does not face financial concerns should PUFC be allowed to compete.
In addition, following of Perlis United failure to obtain the National License saw only 13 clubs compete in the Liga Super Malaysia for the 2024/25 season.
