Perak FC will use Stadium MPM, Manjung or ‘Manjung Stadium’ for the second leg of the Liga Super Malaysia season 2024/25.
State Education, Higher Education, Youth and Sports Committee chairman Khairudin Abu Hanipah said the changes to the court were due to the work to upgrade the Perak Stadium, especially to replace the grass field starting next November.
He said the decision had been agreed as a result of a meeting involving the Ipoh City Council (MBI), Perak FC, the State Sports Council (MSN) and the State Economic Planning Unit (UPEN) last month.
“We have received several suggestions, and among them, the Perak FC team will use the Manjung Municipal Council Stadium (MPM) as the venue for Perak FC’s matches until all the upgrading processes are fully completed.” Chairman Khairudin said.
“While another proposal is that Perak FC will play all matches away from home (not host any matches), we hope they can play in Manjung and all that depends on the management of Perak FC to negotiate with the Malaysian Football League (MFL),”
In addition, Khairudin added that the two proposals were considered after MBI announced that it would carry out the upgrading of the Perak Stadium as a result of a RM500,000 grant offered by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) last January to all 14 states including the Federal Territories.
Meanwhile, Perak FC Chief Executive Officer Bobie Farid Shamsudin when contacted hinted that the MPM Stadium will be used as a temporary venue for Perak FC for the second round of the M League 2024/25.
“We see that the current location is Manjung and this matter is still in discussion with MFL including related parties, to ensure that the stadium can be used as Perak FC’s home venue.”
“We just hope that the MPM Stadium can meet all the criteria set by the MFL before starting the second round in order to realise the desire of the Perak supporters to come and give their support,”
