The ASEAN All-Stars team preparing for a high-profile showdown with Manchester United on Wednesday, May 28, will be without two key players, as Peeradol Chamrasamee and Asnawi Mangkualam have officially withdrawn from the squad.
The announcement was confirmed by team officials earlier today, with both players citing unavoidable personal and national commitments.
Port FC’s midfield maestro Peeradol Chamrasamee has pulled out of the exhibition match after welcoming a new addition to his family. His wife recently gave birth, and the 31-year-old has chosen to remain at home to support his family during this significant moment.
“Family comes first. I’m grateful for the call-up, but I must be by my wife’s side during this important time,” Peeradol stated in a brief message.
Meanwhile, Indonesian right-back Asnawi Mangkualam will miss the All-Stars fixture as he has been called up by the Indonesia national team for the June window of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifiers. With vital matches on the horizon, Asnawi’s focus will be on helping his country advance in their World Cup campaign.
Despite the withdrawals, Port FC will still be well-represented. Worachit Kanitsribampen and Irfan Fandi are set to feature in the ASEAN All-Stars squad, and fans can expect them to bring flair and firepower to the much-anticipated clash against the English giants at Rajamangala Stadium.
“We urge all Thai football fans and Port FC supporters to keep supporting our players. Let’s show the world the strength and spirit of ASEAN football,” said a club spokesperson.
