Malaysia’s challenge at the Orléans Masters Badminton 2026 came to an end in the Round of 16, with several national representatives falling in tightly contested matches on Thursday.
In the women’s doubles, Ong Xin Yee and Carmen Ting put up a strong fight but were edged out 21-23, 21-18, 22-20 by American pair Lauren Lam and Allison Lee in a thrilling three-game encounter that went down to the wire.
Malaysia’s men’s doubles hopes were dashed as seventh seeds Kang Khai Xing and Aaron Tai were defeated in straight games, 17-21, 13-21, by Denmark’s Christian Kjaer and Rasmus Kjaer.
In the women’s singles, Wong Ling Ching was unable to progress after losing 22-24, 13-21 to India’s Malvika Bansod, despite a competitive opening game.
Men’s singles shuttler Justin Hoh also bowed out in a heartbreaking three-game defeat, going down 21-16, 17-21, 20-22 to Chinese Taipei’s Su Li Yang. Justin came agonizingly close to sealing the match but fell short in a tense decider.
