Nikola Jambor, a 29-year-old Croatian midfielder, has officially joined Selangor FC for the Liga Super Malaysia and AFC Champions League Two (ACL2) 2024/25 season, following the approval of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC). Known as Niko, Jambor brings significant international experience to Selangor, having played across several European and Middle Eastern leagues.
Niko began his professional career at 19 with NK Koprivnica in Croatia, and his most notable stint in his home country came with Slaven Belupo Koprivnica, where he made 66 appearances over two seasons. His achievements with the club include finishing as runner-up in the Croatian Cup 2015/16.
Throughout his career, Niko has played in Belgium, Portugal, and Saudi Arabia, adding diversity to his footballing portfolio. His most prolific period was with Rio Ave FC in Portugal, where he featured in 51 matches between 2018 and 2021. He also made 27 appearances for Hajer FC during his time in Saudi Arabia. Jambor’s vast international experience is expected to bolster Selangor FC as they aim for success in both the Malaysian League and ACL2.
In his first remarks as a Selangor FC player, Niko expressed his excitement about joining the club:
“I received a call from my agent about an offer that caught my attention. The club’s plan aligns perfectly with my objectives and mission, so it was difficult to refuse. I’m really excited to join this new family and work together towards our shared goals.”
Selangor FC head coach, Nidzam Jamil, welcomed Jambor’s arrival and emphasized the added competition in midfield:
“I’m confident that Nikola will bring high competition, especially in the midfield. This competition can positively impact the team as we face challenges in the Malaysian League and ACL2 this season.”
