Miguel Oliveira is poised to make a high-profile return to MotoGP action this weekend at the Michelin® Grand Prix of France, ending a three-race absence following a serious shoulder injury sustained earlier in the season.
The Prima Pramac Yamaha rider was sidelined after a heavy crash during the Grand Prix of Argentina, which left him with a dislocated sternoclavicular ligament in his left shoulder — a painful and delicate injury that demanded weeks of rest and rehabilitation.
With Oliveira undergoing intensive recovery and missing three crucial rounds — Americas, Qatar, and Spain — the team temporarily fielded Yamaha Test Rider Augusto Fernandez in his place. However, a positive medical assessment in Milan last week has now cleared the Portuguese star for a potential return to competition.
The #88 rider will head to Le Mans with the intent to be back aboard his YZR-M1 machine, pending a final green light during Thursday’s mandatory circuit-side medical check. Should all go as planned, Oliveira will rejoin the grid for Friday’s practice sessions, reuniting with his team and fans eager to see him back in action.
“It’s been a tough few weeks, but I’m grateful for the support from my team, medical staff, and fans. I’m feeling strong and motivated to return,” Oliveira said ahead of his departure for France.
His return adds fresh energy to the grid and strengthens the Pramac Yamaha camp as the team looks to regain momentum heading into the heart of the 2025 season. The Grand Prix of France will now mark a critical point in Oliveira’s campaign — not only to prove his fitness but also to reignite his championship ambitions.
