Machida Zelvia head coach Go Kuroda believes his side can put up a strong challenge against Johor Darul Ta’zim despite making their debut in the AFC Champions League Elite 2025/26 League Stage(East Zone) tomorrow night.
“This is our first time competing away match in the ACLE. Tomorrow, we must deliver our very best performance, and we remain challengers,” said Kuroda in the pre-match press conference.
Machida Zelvia, who are appearing on Asia’s elite stage for the first time in their history, face the daunting task of playing away at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, a venue renowned for its electric atmosphere and JDT’s dominance.
Machida Zelvia defender Yuta Nakayama expressed his excitement about playing at the home of the Southern Tigers, highlighting the scale of the occasion.
“This is our first away match in the competition. This stadium is truly beautiful, and I hope the supporters will come and show their support,” Nakayama said.\
JDT, who are seeking redemption after their opening defeat to Buriram United in ACLE, will aim to capitalise on home advantage and bounce back in front of their fans. Machida Zelvia, meanwhile, hope to mark their debut with a statement performance and prove they belong among Asia’s elite.
The highly anticipated match kicks off on Tuesday, 30 September 2025 at 8:15 PM at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium.
