Selangor FC earned 3 points in last match of the season after beating PDRM FC scoring 2-0 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2024/25 at MBPJ Stadium, Petaling Jaya.
This clash not only marked the final league outing for both teams, but also served as a repeat of last season’s Challenge Cup final, reigniting the competitive spark between two familiar foes.
Selangor head coach Katsuhito Kinoshi made three changes to his starting eleven, notably bringing in Sam Somerville between the posts. Meanwhile, Ifedayo Olusegun led the line for PDRM as their main attacking threat.
Despite an early chance to take the lead through a 21st-minute penalty, Ronnie Fernandez failed to convert as PDRM’s Hakeem Hamidun pulled off a fine save to keep the scores level.
PDRM thought they had broken the deadlock when Ifedayo found the back of the net, only for the linesman to flag for offside, disallowing what could’ve been a crucial opener.
Selangor returned from the break with renewed intensity and were finally rewarded in the 55th minute when Alvin Fortes unleashed a powerful strike that flew past Hakeem, giving the Red Giants a deserved lead.
In response, PDRM boss Eddy Gapil made four substitutions in quick succession to revitalize his squad’s attack—but it was Selangor who struck again.
In the dying minutes of the match, Yohandry Orozco added the finishing touch with a composed effort, sealing a 2-0 win and a perfect ending to Selangor’s season.
The victory solidifies Selangor’s second-place finish in the league with 52 points, trailing only behind champions Johor Darul Ta’zim. For PDRM FC, the defeat leaves them in 8th place, concluding their campaign with 27 points.
Coach Kinoshi, who has steadily built momentum since his arrival, will now shift his focus to preparations for the next season and potential AFC competitions.
With players like Fortes, Orozco, and Fernandez showing chemistry, and a solid defensive structure anchored by Somerville and company, Selangor FC looks poised to challenge for silverware in 2025/26.
