Selangor FC back on a good way and earned 3 points after beating Kedah Darul Aman, scoring 1-0 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2024/25 at Darul Aman Stadium, Alor Setar.
The victory, which followed a tough 0-3 loss to Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), strengthens Selangor’s position in second place after 14 matches this season.
In front of a crowd of 5,090 spectators, Kedah launched an early offensive with a close call from team captain Sony Norde, whose header in the ninth minute, set up by winger Sukhrob Nurullaev, narrowly missed the mark.
However, it was Selangor who gradually took control, attacking predominantly from the left wing through Faisal Halim and Mukhairi Ajmal. Kedah’s goalkeeper, Ifwat Akmal, showed resilience in goal, denying several attempts to keep the score level.
The teams entered halftime with a 0-0 deadlock, with three minutes of stoppage time added by referee Hasrol Mohd Amir. But just two minutes into the second half, Selangor broke the tie. Substitute Aliff Izwan Yuslan made an immediate impact, scoring in the 47th minute from a precise cross by Ahmad Zikri Khalili, securing the critical 1-0 lead for Selangor.
The win not only reaffirms Selangor’s pursuit of a top finish in the league but also showcases the squad’s determination to stay in contention despite recent setbacks.
