Selangor FC is the winner of Klang Valley Derby first leg after beating Kuala Lumpur City with a score of 3-1 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2023 at KLFA Stadium, Cheras.
KL City, who havn’t yet tasted victory this season, first opened the scoring through Kipre Tchetche’s shot in the 24th minute.
However, that position did not last long when Selangor’s import striker, Ayron del Valle equalized by finishing the penalty kick in the 32nd minute.
Five minutes before the end of the first half, Selangor were once again given a penalty kick when KL City goalkeeper Azri Ghani brought down Ayron and the opportunity was fully utilized by Faisal Halim to score his first goal in the Super League this season.
Ayron continued to make his mark as a scorer in the first action after the international break when he scored Selangor’s third goal in the 54th minute by finishing off Hein Htet Aung’s pass in the penalty box.
Desperate KL City tried to rise with several moves, but the efforts of Bojan Hodak’s men were unsuccessful and the score remained 3-1 in favor of Selangor until the final whistle.
The victory saw Selangor gather 13 points and climb to the third place in the league after going through six games.
