Selangor FC climbs up to 2nd rank after beating Terengganu FC with a score of 5-1 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2023 at MBPJ Stadium, Petaling Jaya.
In the action involved, Terengganu started fiercely by several times ‘invading’ the Selangor area and dominating the first 15 minutes of the match.
Only the crossbar separated Terengganu from opening the scoring when the Turtles squad could only watch Jordan Mintah’s free kick land on the crossbar in the 11th minute.
After allowing Terengganu to press forward, Selangor rose and got the first goal through Ayron del Valle’s finish in the 17th minute.
Before Terengganu could finish being ‘surprised’ with the first goal, Selangor came again with a second goal four minutes apart, this time through Faisal Halim who chose not to celebrate the goal against his former team.
With two goals in hand, Selangor didn’t seem to want to give Terengganu a chance to bounce back when they blocked the third goal from Harith Haiqal’s goal in the 40th minute.
Continuing the second half, Terengganu substitute players scored a goal after Syafik Ismail’s cross was headed by Ivan Mamut in the 60th minute to reduce the deficit to 3-1.
Selangor, however, enjoyed a three-goal lead again when they broke Terengganu’s goal for the fourth time through Ayron Del Valle, who scored his second personal goal in the 70th minute.
In the 84th minute, Aliff Haiqal change the position to 5-1 for Selangor and ended with this score.
