In the northern derby, Penang seemed to end the wait for the first victory when Hilal El-Helwe completed T. Saravanan’s cross in the 16th minute.
However, Kedah bounced back in the second half through Ronald Ngah’s double in three minutes.
Ronald Ngah completed a penalty kick in the 62nd minute after he was brought down by Ariff Ar-Rasyid Ariffin.
Three minutes later, in the 65th minute the Ronald Ngah once again defeated Khatul Anuar Jalil, this time through an interesting solo movement following a quick counter-attack.
With the victory, Kedah returned to second place in the Super League and tied 12 points with the leader, Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), even though the Southern Tigers team held the advantage of one match in hand.
