Liga Super: JDT Crush Negeri Sembilan 3-0
Johor Darul Ta'zim heaped more pain on Negeri Sembilan, easing past them on Friday night match in the Unifi Liga Super Malaysia 2026/27 with a comfortable 3-0 victory at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri.
The win extended the Southern Tigers' perfect run in this season's competition, coming off the back of a ruthless 14-1 aggregate hammering of UM-Damansara in the previous round.
It was Iranian forward Shahab Zahedi who set the tone early, firing JDT ahead with a sharp finish in just the 12th minute.
Negeri Sembilan tried to respond quickly, throwing men forward in search of an immediate equaliser, but found the Southern Tigers' backline — and their goalkeeper in particular — in inspired form.
JDT struck again before the break, this time through newly naturalised forward Bergson da Silva, who pounced on a defensive mistake to double the hosts' advantage and send them into the sheds 2-0 up.
The Southern Tigers picked up where they left off after the restart, dominating the ball and creating chance after chance as they searched for a third to put the tie beyond doubt.
That goal arrived in the 66th minute, with substitute Marcos Guilherme rounding off a fine move to make it 3-0 and leave The Jangs with a mountain to climb.
JDT kept pushing forward late on in search of a fourth, but the visitors' goal stayed intact until the final whistle.
The match at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium ended 3-0 in JDT's favour, sending the Southern Tigers through to the next round of the FA Cup.
JDT now turn their attention to Asia, where they'll host Buriram United on 15 September in the AFC Champions League Elite 2026/27 League Stage, East Zone.
Negeri Sembilan, on the other hand, will look to bounce back on the domestic front when they face Sabah FC in the Super League on 17 October.
