Kuala Lumpur City, a club in Liga Super Malaysia have today signed a collaboration agreement with Cádiz CF, a club in Spanish La Liga which will see the two clubs collaborate on several fronts for mutual benefit.
The agreement was signed on behalf of Kuala Lumpur City FC by CEO, Stanley Bernard Samuel, while Cádiz C.F. was represented by its Director of Operations, Jose Luiz Donoso Alvarez, and presided over by Adrián Prol Vázquez, Delegate of LaLiga in Malaysia
Stanley said that this collaboration represented a tremendous opportunity for Kuala Lumpur City FC to learn the best practices from a team competing in one of the best leagues in the world.
“There is great value in exposing our players and coaches to training programs and coaching courses that can be organized either in Malaysia or Spain,” he added.
Cádiz Co-owner Ben Harburg commented “Cádiz have a strategic focus on Southeast Asia and we believe a partnership with KL City FC is a strong first step into the Malaysian market. We look forward to seeing their players with us in Spain and bringing our team to the region soon.”
Both clubs would also look to promote each other’s branding and image in Spain and Malaysia as well as explore other partnerships that can bring commercial benefit.
“From LaLiga we love to have more Spanish clubs with a presence in this part of the world. In this particular case, it’s about Cádiz CF and Kuala Lumpur City FC. Promoting football across the world is among the main objectives that LaLiga have pinpointed as an integral part of our internationalization strategy, and this collaboration agreement is a great example of this”, said Adrián Prol, LaLiga Delegate in Malaysia.
Azri Azerai, the majority shareholder of KL City FC said that this will be among the first of many collaborations that KL City FC will do worldwide with the aim of increasing KL City’s brand value
This includes the Kuala Lumpur FC team going to Spain for pre-season training at Cádiz C.F.’s facilities and playing a friendly match with the Spanish club’s first team.
Cádiz CF is based in the city of Cádiz, a port city on the southwestern coast of Spain regarded as the oldest continuously inhabited city in Western Europe.
