Kim Pan-Gon, head coach of Malaysia national team, expressed concern about the performance of his men, who have played fewer minutes since they went through the AFC Asian Cup 2023 in Qatar two months ago.
However, the Korean head coach still set the target to bring at least 1 point back to Malaysia before playing against Oman again at Bukit Jalil National Stadium, Kuala Lumpur in, next Tuesday.
“We faced some difficulties in the preparation, but everything went well. I hope we can put on an entertaining game. We want to bring home the points to Malaysia.” KPG said.
“I hope the players give their best performance to offer happiness in Malaysia.”
“We didn’t have any game minutes in preparation for this match. In fact, our team was not complete when we tested Nepal a few days ago.”
“Anyway, as usual, the players showed great loyalty. So far our preparations have been going well, even though there have been setbacks but that doesn’t bother us to look forward to the next round.”
“We know the character of all the players, maybe after 10 minutes of the match, we can smell all the elements,”
“Maybe sometimes we struggle when we meet teams from the Middle East, and based on that, we are aware of their physical strength, so we have to be ready.”
“Oman is a team that likes to attack, but with the appointment of a new coach, it is difficult for us to study their current capabilities,”
Thus, the national squad cannot escape from doubts about their current stamina with the defender, Dion Cools from Buriram United believes the national line-up needs to avoid making mistakes in critical moments.
“We have to give our best, but I expect the national players will start to tire after 70-80 or 90 minutes,” Cools said.
“It is important that we have the mental strength to make good decisions here to take home to Kuala Lumpur,”
FIFA World Cup 2026 Asian Qualifiers Round 2, Group D Matchday 3 between Oman vs Malaysia will be played on 21 March 2023 at 1.00 am.(+1 day Malaysian time) at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex.
