Malaysia’s junior men’s hockey team saw their quarterfinal hopes slip away after falling 1–3 to England in their final Group E match of the 2025 Junior World Cup at the Madurai International Hockey Stadium, Tamil Nadu, India.
England struck almost immediately, opening the scoring in the 4th minute when Henry Markham converted a penalty corner with precision.
The English side doubled their advantage in the 36th minute through a field goal by Michael Royden, putting Malaysia on the back foot entering the final phase of the match
Malaysia showed signs of revival when Azimuddin Kamaruddin nailed a penalty-corner goal in the 47th minute, giving Nor Saiful Zaini Nasiruddin’s squad a lifeline.
But England ended the contest three minutes from time after Alex Chihota found space to score a field goal, sealing the result at 3–1
Earlier in the day, the Netherlands stormed to the top of the group after demolishing Austria 11–0 — a statement performance that left no doubt about their dominance.
Malaysia, finishing third, will now shift focus toward securing the best possible classification in the 9th–16th range.
