Juan Muniz, Spanish defender of Johor Darul Ta’Zim revealed he suffered a broken tooth after being elbowed by a Buriram United player during the AFC Champions League Elite 2024/25 League Stage(East Zone) match at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, which ended in a goalless draw.
The incident, reported by Astro Arena journalist Zulhelmi Zainal Azam, highlighted the intensity of the clash:
“Juan Muniz broke his tooth after being elbowed by a Buriram United player. The standout performer from the FA Cup final will also miss the next match due to a one-match suspension.”
Muniz, a former Spanish youth international, was instrumental in JDT’s defense, playing 75 minutes before being substituted by Heberty Fernandes. Despite his efforts, the stalemate leaves Harimau Selatan sharing eight points with Buriram United and finishing sixth in the group after six matches.
Adding to JDT’s woes, Muniz will miss the next AFC Champions League Elite game due to an accumulation of yellow cards, further complicating their path forward in the tournament.
