Aprilia Racing's Jorge Martin is defying medical odds in a desperate bid to keep his championship campaign on track. Just five days after suffering a broken radius during a heavy crash in the Phillip Island Sprint, the Spaniard has arrived at the Sepang International Circuit ready to ride.

Speaking ahead of the PETRONAS Grand Prix of Malaysia, which runs from October 30 to November 1, Martin expressed gratitude just to be present at the paddock. He acknowledged that while normal medical advice dictates a four-to-five-week recovery period in a cast, the stakes of the current championship battle forced him to accelerate his return.

"If I wouldn't be in the fight for the championship, I would have to be with my arm in a cast and wait four or five weeks," Martin revealed with MotoGP.

"The bone is still not healed, it's broken, so I will ride with a broken wrist, let's try to enjoy the laps I do, and let's see if I am able to be competitive."

The title contender admitted that the upcoming double-header in Malaysia and Qatar presents a massive physical challenge. However, he maintains a pragmatic yet determined outlook on his title chances.

"At the moment, you know, it's not over till it's over, that's sure," Martin stated. "I feel I want to race, I want to see if I'm competitive, and in case I am competitive, then I'm still in the fight. In case I'm not, we can forget about it."

Martin plans to take the race weekend day by day, using the initial practice sessions to evaluate his mobility and strength on the bike. While he does not expect to replicate his blistering Australian pace, his mere presence on the grid underscores a relentless drive to fight until the very end.
