Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) continued their dominant form with a commanding 8-0 victory over Singapore’s Balestier Khalsa in an international club friendly at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri.
The Southern Tigers put on a masterclass performance, showcasing their attacking firepower from the start.
Hector Bidoglio’s men wasted no time, with Brazilian forward Bergson opening the scoring just four minutes into the match. JDT doubled their lead in the 12th minute when new signing Oscar Arribas found the back of the net with a clinical finish.
Bergson struck again just five minutes later, netting his second goal to give the home side a comfortable 3-0 advantage before the halftime break.
The second half saw JDT pick up where they left off. Veteran Brazilian playmaker Heberty Fernandes added a fourth goal, capitalizing on a defensive error by Balestier Khalsa’s Hafiz Ahmad.
Former Real Madrid star Jese Rodriguez made an instant impact after being introduced as a substitute, energizing the crowd at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium. JDT’s relentless attack continued, with Heberty and Bergson both completing their braces, while Gabriel Nistelrooy also got on the scoresheet.
The highlight of the night came in the final minutes when Jese marked his debut with a well-taken goal, sealing an emphatic 8-0 victory for JDT.
Despite three minutes of added time, Balestier Khalsa had no answer for the home side’s superior quality, as the scoreline remained unchanged until the final whistle.
