Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) emerged victorious at the Brembo Italian Grand Prix, fending off brother Alex Marquez (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) and a last-lap charge from Fabio Di Giannantonio to clinch his 93rd win across all classes.
The Mugello Circuit once again delivered its signature drama, spectacle, and pure racing brilliance. The opening laps were nothing short of breathtaking, featuring a fierce three-way duel between Marc Marquez, teammate Francesco Bagnaia, and Alex Marquez — a fight worthy of the 2025 title chase.
At lights out, it was a drag race down to San Donato between Marc and Bagnaia. The Italian initially grabbed the holeshot in front of his home fans, but by Lap 2, Marc was already reasserting himself, setting the tone for a relentless back-and-forth exchange of overtakes.
By Lap 3, contact between Bagnaia and Marc allowed Alex Marquez to leap into the battle, reshuffling the order and igniting a three-wide showdown into Turn 1. The younger Marquez briefly led, only to be overtaken again by Pecco, before counterattacking to claim the lead at Turn 3 in what became a dizzying carousel of top-tier racing.
Marc bided his time. By Lap 9, he reeled in his brother and retook the lead, while Bagnaia began to fade after a heart-stopping front-end save nearly sent him off track. From there, Marc pulled the pin and began stretching a crucial gap that ultimately proved decisive.
Behind him, the drama wasn’t done. Maverick Viñales (Red Bull KTM Tech3) was wiped out by Franco Morbidelli (VR46 Racing Team), earning the Italian a Long Lap Penalty — twice, after incorrectly serving the first one. The chaos opened the door for Di Giannantonio, who surged forward into podium contention.
With just two laps to go, Di Giannantonio hunted down a struggling Bagnaia, slicing past him at Turn 6 to steal third. He set off in pursuit of Alex Marquez but ran out of time as the chequered flag fell.
Marc Marquez crossed the finish line to cement his legendary status with an incredible 93rd victory, leading a Marquez brothers 1-2 — a moment of history for both the family and the Ducati camp. Di Giannantonio completed the podium in style with a spectacular late charge.
