Malaysia’s rising men’s doubles duo, Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun, etched their names in history with a stunning triumph over Indonesia’s world No. 4 pair, Fajar Alfian and Rian Ardianto, to clinch the prestigious DAIHATSU Indonesian Masters 2025 title.
Wei Chong and Kai Wun delivered a flawless performance, securing a straight-games victory 21-11, 21-19 in just 38 minutes in the final held at the iconic Istora Senayan in Jakarta on Sunday (Jan 26).
The win marked Wei Chong and Kai Wun’s first-ever victory over Fajar and Rian, having previously lost all four encounters against the Indonesian pair. It was also a historic moment, as the world No. 13 duo became the first men’s doubles champions at the Indonesian Masters since the tournament began in 2010.
Adding to their achievement, they are only the second Malaysian men’s doubles pair to triumph at the Istora, following Mohd Zakry Latif and Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari, who won the 2008 Indonesian Open at the same venue—17 years ago.
This victory is the biggest milestone yet in Wei Chong and Kai Wun’s career. The duo claimed their maiden World Tour Super 500 title, a significant upgrade from their previous crown at the 2023 Taiwan Open (Super 300).
Wei Chong and Kai Wun started the match with aggressive play, dominating the opening game 21-11 with powerful smashes and excellent court coverage. In the second game, the Malaysian pair displayed nerves of steel, fending off a spirited comeback attempt from Fajar and Rian to seal the win 21-19.
