Fergus Tierney, a striker from Chonburi FC in Thai League 2 initially listed as a standby player, has been called up to Malaysia’s national football team training camp for two Tier 1 international matches.
Tierney, 21, replaces Johor Darul Ta’Zim’s Romel Morales, who was ruled out due to an injury sustained during a Liga Super Malaysia 2024/25 match against Perak FC. FAM expressed its wishes for Morales’ swift recovery and hopes to see him return for future camps.
Meanwhile, four other JDT players—goalkeeper Ahmad Syihan Hazmi Mohamed, Matthew Davies, Feroz Baharudin, and Arif Aiman Mohd Hanapi—have reported to the training session at Wisma FAM, Kelana Jaya.
Fergus, along with team captain Dion Cools, will join the squad directly in Bangkok upon the team’s arrival tomorrow.
The Harimau Malaya will face Laos in Bangkok, Thailand, on November 14, and India in Hyderabad, India, on November 18, 2024.
