Football Association of Malaysia(FAM) has confirmed Sabah FA will participate in the AFC Women’s Champions League 2024/25 as a representative of Malaysia.
Sabah FA is a champions of Liga Wanita Nasional season 2023 and will compete in the AFC Women’s Champions League 2024/25 qualifying round, which is scheduled to take place from 25-31 August 2024.
FAM Secretary General, Datuk Noor Azman Hj Rahman together with Malayan Tigress Head Coach, Soleen Al-Zoubi as the head of the FAM women’s football unit, attended the Sabah Football Association office, yesterday to express their congratulations and hold further discussions on the team’s preparations.
AFC Women’s Champions League 2024 is held for the first time by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and the Sabah women’s football squad is the first women’s football team in Malaysia to qualify for this prestigious competition.
Sabah along with 14 other teams will compete in the qualifying round of the AFC Womens Champions League to qualify for the next round along with the top 8 teams that have qualified based on the FIFA ranking.
Next, 4 group champions will qualify for the group stage which will see 12 clubs compete to qualify for the AFC Women’s Champions League which is scheduled to take place in January 2025.
