Mohd Firdaus Mohamed, Vice President of the Football Association of Malaysia(FAM) confirms that all teams receive equal ‘treatment’ with the parent body never practicing favoritism. and insists that Johor Darul Ta’zim will not escape punishment following the actions of supporters set fire to flares inside the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri.
Earlier, supporters of JDT were found to have lit flares three times after the match, thereby violating Article 70.1 of the FAM Disciplinary Code which prohibits supporters from bringing prohibited items into the stadium.
“That is just speculation and not true (accusing FAM of giving privileges to JDT). The FAM Disciplinary Committee treats all clubs equally.” FAM Vice President explained.
“They will look at case by case and the committee will decide the form of punishment for them later,”
“The burning of beacons is subject to the FAM Disciplinary Committee and the punishment for the offense involved is still in force,”
However, In the same development, Firdaus, the Chairman of the FAM Competition Committee, also explained that any form of punishment imposed on JDT will be determined by the Disciplinary Committee of the management.
In addition, HRH Major General Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, Crown Prince of Johor (TMJ) admitted the mistake involved but asked FAM to be considerate.
