BANGKOK – Johor Darul Ta’Zim (MAS) defeated Thailand’s BG Pathum FC (THA) in today’s matches 4-2, thus letting JDT bring home three points. Man of the match, Bergson Da Silva, together with the head coach Esteban Solari, attended the post-match conference.
When the head coach was asked to comment about the team’s performance, Esteban Solari said, “We are looking forward to playing after the loss to Kawasaki Frontale because we knew we could perform better. Today was a test for us, and the team played fantastically. I am so proud of the team and the players. Today, we showed we performed well and the ability to play in BG Pathum.”
Man of the match, Bergson Da Silva said he was happy to be selected to be the Man of the Match, and he said, “To be honest, I feel very good and proud to be selected as the player of the match. We planned everything before the game with the coach to challenge everything. We don’t think to be the best player but to think how to win the game, giving the best efforts to the team.”
“The first goal for BG Pathum was a key for us to make the comeback. When you’re 1-0 behind, it’s good for us because you must show the character to win the game away. That’s why I said I’m proud of the players. I am more happy with the team performance, in my own opinion.”
“First of all, we enjoyed. Because football is about moments. Everything is moving fast, and we are planning for the game. As the FIFA calendar is arriving, we must recover some players now. We have a lot of wills to play in this tournament. We want to collect points as much as possible to march on.”
When asked about the performance of the MVP in the Malaysia League, Arif Aiman, who scored two goals in 2 matches, the head coach commented, “We knew that when we have the ball and space and the players like Heberty, Hong Wan, Bergson, we knew that we could go all the spaces to attack. BG Pathum has a lot of quality players, too. Then we have a lot of chances, too; this shows the tactics work, but sometimes they score, and sometimes they don’t. But we are happy with what we planned, and the players played well. Young players like Feroz and Hong Wan played well, too.”
Johor Darul Ta’Zim FC (MAS) will travel to Korea to play against the their old rival Ulsan Hyundai (KOR) on 8 October 2023.
