Thailand’s PT Grand Prix of Thailand continues to solidify its reputation as one of the most spectacular and fan-centric events on the MotoGP World Championship calendar, with Dorna Sports — the global rights holder of MotoGP — officially recognizing ThaiGP as a model for immersive race experiences.
Ms. Amparo Porto, Senior Director of Dorna Sports, expressed profound appreciation to the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), and all organizing partners for their exceptional collaboration and consistency in hosting the event.
“Thailand is recognized as a highly significant market for MotoGP in the region, with a strong and passionate fan base and great potential to further expand its audience,” said Porto.
“ThaiGP is among the most attended races on the MotoGP calendar, offering fans a world-class experience both on and off the track.”
Porto emphasized that Dorna Sports has officially extended Thailand’s hosting rights for another five years, securing the nation’s place on the MotoGP schedule through 2031.
Dorna hailed the Buriram round as a benchmark for comprehensive fan engagement, combining thrilling on-track action with a vibrant off-track atmosphere. The Chang International Circuit has become synonymous with its expansive fan zones, interactive entertainment hubs, diverse culinary experiences, and multi-functional public spaces that reflect the “More Than a Race” philosophy.
“The fan zones in Thailand are particularly notable for their variety of activities, entertainment, dining, and multifunctional spaces, creating a fully immersive experience,” added Porto.
“This approach embodies MotoGP’s vision of connecting with fans throughout the entire weekend, and Buriram has consistently delivered that experience at the highest level.”
Since joining the MotoGP calendar in 2018, the PT Grand Prix of Thailand has grown into one of the series’ most attended and celebrated events, consistently drawing over 200,000 spectators annually and contributing significantly to the Thai economy through sports tourism.
The Buriram Province, with its world-class infrastructure and passionate local community, has transformed into Southeast Asia’s premier motorsport destination. The partnership between Dorna Sports, SAT, PTG Energy, and Chang International Circuit continues to elevate the event’s profile, blending Thai hospitality with international sporting excellence.
Dorna’s decision to extend Thailand’s MotoGP hosting rights and designate the nation as the season opener for five consecutive years (2027–2031) underscores the government’s and private sector’s shared commitment to advancing Thailand’s status as a regional motorsport hub.
The move aligns with Thailand’s broader strategic objective — positioning itself as a “Model ASEAN Sports City” while promoting tourism, economic growth, and international recognition through global sporting events.
