Malaysian Moto3 rider Hakim Danish (AEON Credit – MT Helmets – MSi) completed the opening day of the 2026 British Grand Prix with P16 in the Practice session at Silverstone Circuit.
Hakim used Friday’s sessions primarily to build confidence and gather valuable information around the challenging Northamptonshire circuit, before improving his pace during the afternoon session.
The Malaysian youngster began his Silverstone campaign in Free Practice 1 (FP1) on Friday morning, focusing on learning the circuit and finding the correct riding lines.
He eventually recorded a best lap of 2:11.495, placing him P1 +0.902 seconds from the session benchmark.
Hakim returned stronger in the afternoon, improving his lap time by more than one second to 2:10.359.
That performance placed him 16th overall, just 0.791 seconds away from the fastest rider in the session.
The improvement provided encouraging signs as Hakim continues to adapt to the high-speed demands of Silverstone.
The fastest rider in the Moto3 PR session was Argentine youngster Valentin Perrone of Red Bull KTM Tech3, who topped the classification with a best time of 2:09.568.
The extremely tight gap at the front means every tenth of a second will be crucial when the riders return to the circuit for qualifying.
Despite finishing P16, Hakim remains within striking distance of the leading group and will now focus on extracting further performance from his machine.
Hakim will enter the Q1 group for Saturday’s Moto3 qualifying session. The Malaysian rider’s immediate target will be to improve his lap time sufficiently to break into Q2, where the fastest riders will fight for the best starting positions on the grid.
The second day of action will begin with FP2 in the morning, followed by Q1 and Q2 in the afternoon.
