Amri Yahyah, an Attacking midfielder of Sabah FC, announced retirement from their Football career at the age of 42 after spending 22 years in their career.
“Tomorrow night’s match is “Wak Am’s” last match as a professional player.” Sabah FC said in official statement.
“Amri Yahya has played with the Sabah FC for 3 seasons from 2021-2023.”
“Throughout playing with the Sabah FC team, he has always been a role model to other players for his commitment and seriousness when he comes down to play.”
“In addition, this legendary figure is also liked by fans or supporters by calling him “Ketua kampung Likas”.
“For Amri Yahya, thank you for all your devotion to the Sabah FC team and Malaysia. wherever you are, you are looking at the legend of Sabah and Malaysian football lovers.”
“To all Sabah FC supporters, Let’s fill the Likas stadium at the match as a sign of gratitude and our farewell night with the legend Amri Yahya.”
Amri Yahyah, or ‘Wak am’ started their turn in professional football in 2001 with Selangor FA and moved to Johor Darul Ta’Zim in 2014; he was one of the players in the squad of champions AFC Cup 2015 before moving to Melaka United in 2017 and back to Selangor FA again in second leg of season 2017 and move to Sarawak United in season 2020 and move to Borneo’s rivalry Sabah FC in season 2021 until now.
As for the national level, Amri Yahyah has collected 63 caps with the Malaysia national team and made his debut on the international stage on 8 September 2004 when he was 23 years old when he came on as a substitute in a match losing to China national team 0-1 in the FIFA World Cup 2006 Asian Qualifiers action at Bandaraya Stadium, Pulau Pinang. and last action in the AFC Asian Cup 2019 Qualifiers Round 3 match against Lebanon at the Tan Sri Dato’ Hj Hassan Yunos Stadium, Larkin on 13 June 2017 at the age of 36.
