ASEAN Football Federation(AFF) sanctions Azam Azmi Murad, a Defender of Malaysia national team suspended for two matches and fined US$1,000 (RM 4,406) following a controversial action with in the AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2022 Group stage, Group B between Vietnam and Malaysia on 27 December 2022.
In the match, in the 62nd minute, Azam was shown a red card after a foul with Doan Van Hau, a Vietnamese player. and after the match Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has taken action and sent a letter to AFF for a decision.
Through a media statement by the AFF Federal Technical and Ethics Committee, they found Azam guilty in the incident of rudeness that occurred when Malaysia met Vietnam at the My Dinh Stadium, Hanoi.
That means Azam Azmi will miss playing against Singapore at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium on Tuesday night and will also have to pay a fine within 30 days from the date of the decision, which is on Monday (January 2, 2023).
