Malaysia U17 National Team missed a point in the first match after losing United Arab Emirates national team scoring 0-2 in the AFC U17 Asian Cup 2025 Qualifiers Group H at Laos KM16 National Stadium, Vientiane.
Despite a determined effort, Malaysia couldn’t secure a point and now faces a tough path forward in the tournament.
UAE quickly took control of the match, opening the scoring in the seventh minute with a well-taken goal by Khamis. Malaysia struggled to gain momentum, with UAE’s organized play limiting their attacking chances.
In first-half stoppage time, UAE doubled their lead through Almarar, putting Malaysia in a difficult position heading into the second half. Although Malaysia showed flashes of promise, they were unable to break down the UAE defense.
The defeat leaves Malaysia in a precarious position, with their hopes of advancing now hinging on the result of the Laos vs. UAE match on Friday. Malaysia will face the hosts, Laos, in a must-win encounter two days later.
